Children all over the world are stuck in abuse, poverty, and neglect. Left alone, fighting simply to survive. They are seemingly forgotten; without hope or a voice.
In 2017, the orphanage my husband and I had been serving in Thailand lost their main sponsor. This was devastating, and JEOPARDIZED the orphanage’s ability to continue, and more importantly the children’s futures.
We could not let this happen. We knew something had to be done.
And so we started The Champion project; an organization created to empower orphanages; to provide safety, education, and hope so that these children have the opportunity to become the champions they were created to be.

Education
Sponsorships
We have sponsors for each child that give to cover the tuition of their sponsor child.
We will also provide fundraisers and support for extra needs and events such as school uniforms, school supplies, backpacks.
All of our children are currently sponsored!
Orphanage Sustainability
Transitional Assistance- We desire to see every orphanage/children’s home we work with to have their own business that in the future will be their sole source of income for housing, electric, water, food, gas, and medical needs. But we will be working alongside financial advisors and business advisors to help them create a plan and a business that will transition from partially sustaining to fully sustaining the needs of the home. While they start the business we will supplement their income with fundraising and donations.
Staff Support and Training- We will provide training and workshops for the staff at the homes for them to be able to care for the children long-term. We will offer counseling workshops, trauma counseling workshops, self-care workshops, child discipline workshops, business workshops, all by volunteers who have post-secondary education in these areas.
Staff Support
The Thai staff at The Piyawat Orphanage has never received a salary in the past 10 years of their service to orphans and neglected children.
In Thai culture, supporting a nonprofit worker monthly is not yet a cultural normalcy.
We will be raising monthly support for each of the 6 staff members, so they can be compensated for their hard work and dedication.
Long-Term Support
Post-Graduate Training- If the graduate chooses to continue education in a trade school, short term training program, non-profit service training, or pursue a university or local college, we aim to provide the funding and sponsorship for them to do so. We will support faith-based or secular programs, as long as the orphanage staff believe it is a safe and beneficial option for the child.
Volunteer/Non-Profit Employee Support- If a post-graduate child decides to be an employee of a non-profit, we aim to find sponsors and support the graduate financially. Ideally, the graduate would come to America short-term to raise their own team of partners with our support and direction.
Community Outreach
We are willing to partner with existing organizations as well as pioneer our own programs and offer them to families and remaining family members of the children. We will provide workshops such as:
-Small business planning/entrepreneurship
-Anger management
-Job searching and retainment skills
-Single mom workshops
-Family planning and health
